Why You Can’t Sleep Like You Used To — and What You Can Do About It
A four-week physician-led live series for women in midlife and beyond.
September 9–30, 2026 • Live on Zoom • Replays included • 50 guest spots
WHY THIS SERIES
Midlife sleep often feels different for reasons that deserve more than a generic sleep-hygiene checklist.
You may fall asleep, only to wake between 2 and 4 AM with a brain that suddenly feels fully awake.
Sleep may be lighter, more fragmented, or harder to return to. You can feel exhausted and still be unable to settle down. The strategies that once worked may no longer help.
“Better sleep hygiene” can be useful, but it may not answer the deeper question: Why has sleep changed now?
Hormonal changes, brain arousal, stress physiology, circadian rhythm, temperature regulation, and other health factors can all be part of the picture. Hormones are not the cause of every sleep problem—but they belong in a more complete, thoughtful conversation about sleep in midlife.
Understanding why sleep has changed gives you a better framework for choosing practical next steps and discussing them with your own healthcare professionals.
